Policies

The shop minimum is $100 (+tax). The hourly rate starts at $150 (+tax); each artist sets their own rate as independent contractors. Default shop policy is cash only, but some artists may accept other forms of payment (Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, etc.)

Walk-ins are taken subject to artists availability, we recommend calling ahead to see if there are openings for same-day walk-ins!

Clients are required to leave a minimum $100 non-refundable deposit in order to secure a scheduled tattoo appointment. Deposits will be applied to the final cost of the tattoo. Payment for deposits may be made directly to the artist, via their preferred method of payment.

48 hour advanced notice is required to reschedule an appointment. Any request to reschedule without at least 48 hours advanced notice will result in a loss of deposit.

Deposits act as security for the artists reserved time, as well as for their time spent on developing the tattoo design. In the event that an appointment is canceled due to rejection of the tattoo design, the deposit will be kept as compensation for the artists time spent developing the art.

Any client arriving later than 30 minutes to a scheduled appointment, without having given notice to their artist in advance, will forfeit their deposit. Arriving unprepared for your appointment (e.g., not having proper identification) and thereby causing a delay in, or resulting in rescheduling of your appointment, may also result in loss of deposit, at the artist's discretion.

When considering the timing of your tattoo appointment, keep in mind that the interruption of certain routines may be necessary in order to safely heal your tattoo. This may mean abstaining from high-risk activities and environments, such as swimming, excessive sun exposure, tanning salons, gyms, saunas, etc.

No one under 18 years old can be tattooed. Government issued ID is required at the time of your appointment.

With the exception of flash designs, Side Quest Tattoo will not tattoo copies of other people’s tattoo designs. Our artists will use ideas based on your image references to generate a custom tattoo only for you. In some instances, artists may ask that a client seek permission to tattoo a design that was drawn by an artist who is not a tattooer. Our aim is to show respect to those who work hard to hone their craft, and we will actively strive to ensure we are working within the boundaries of our own ethics.

We will not tattoo you while you are pregnant or nursing. Although there is a debate among professionals about whether or not tattooing causes stress to the baby, we would rather not take the risk. There is plenty of time after you give birth to get tattooed, so let’s wait and make sure your baby is healthy.

Side Quest Tattoo will never tattoo symbols of hate or prejudice. Our shop is a safe space and we will not enable homophobia, transphobia, racism, or bigotry of any kind.

Being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is prohibited under Washington State law for persons getting a tattoo. We will deny service to those who appear impaired or belligerent. Person's are required to be of sound mind in order to make the decision to be tattooed, so please stay off the ‘mood enhancers.'

If you have a heart condition, epilepsy, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, diabetes, hemophilia, take medicine which thins the blood, or any other communicable disease, talk to your doctor first and please advise your artist before your appointment.

Side Quest Tattoo reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

Each artist makes the decision to tattoo an individual based on their own discretion -- in particular, with regard to hand/finger/face/neck tattoos.

This is a living list of policies and does not cover every policy of each individual artist. If you have questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to inquire! We may add to or modify these policies at any time.

If you are under 18 and absolutely feel it is necessary to get a tattoo PLEASE DO NOT go to a nasty chop shop who has artists that will disregard state laws. Chances are if they disregard the age law the shop probably disregards the health regulations as well. Contact us for information regarding why it is best to wait until you are 18.
